Geng is going to play the leading role in CCTV’s upcoming drama 青春舞台 /qing chun wu tai/ (literal translation: Stage of Youth). The character is named 夏磊 /xià lěi/. It’s going to be a 12-episode drama~

The confirmation came from the official blog of the 假日剧 /Jia ri ju/ (Holiday drama). 青春舞台 is going to be CCTV’s third holiday drama. The 2 previous dramas were 梦想人间 /meng xiang ren jian/ that aired during the Chinese New Year period in 2006, and also Kangta’s 丁家有女喜洋洋 /ding jia you nü xi yang yang/ in November of 2007.

夏磊： 一个热爱跳舞的阳光大男孩，父亲是顶级射箭运动员，曾因夏磊的母亲去世与上一届奥运会失之交臂，父亲希望夏磊能继承衣钵，但夏磊只喜欢跳舞，在经历了与父辈的矛盾、重重的自我挑战、不懈的努力后，终于实现了自我升华，成就了生命的精彩，成长为新一代舞蹈巨星。
(rough translation: Xia Lei: a young man who loves to dance, his dad is a top notched archery athlete, because of the death of Xia Lei’s mom and also a missed opportunity in the last Olympic, his dad wish Xia Lei to follow his footsteps [follow dad’s dream to become an outstanding athlete to enter the Olympics). However Xia Lei only likes to dance, after going through dad’s objections, challenges after challenges, & with persistence, he finally raises to a higher level, achieves brilliance, & become the new generation’s dancing star.

I’m really happy for Hankyung finally able to get a big role in a drama because from his appearances in Zhang Li Yin’s MVs you can tell that he has a lot of potential and his role in the SJ movie was stupid because the most acting he did was scream when he got hit by poo so this is something to be really giddy about!!

BUT the thing I’m most excited for is that KENNY KWAN WILL BE IN THIS DRAMA TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!! HURRAY FOR FANDOMS COLLIDING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you click on the above link in the credits and scroll down, the third guy you see with 4 pictures is the one I’m talking about. He was my first love EVER and to this day remains one of my favourite male HK singers. He started off as part of the duo BOY’Z but then due to him being more hardworking than the other member, he was given the opportunity to become a solo artist. I have ever single one of his albums from BOY’Z til now (minus the most recent one because it had like 1 new song and was just a compilation). So you can tell that I really love this guy. And he’s going to be playing Hankyung’s best friend!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEE :DDDD

There is one problem, however. His mando is kinda crappy XD But I DONT CARE. IM STILL HAPPY \O/

Also, Joey Yung may be starring in this too. I used to love Joey but then my love started dying because I couldn’t keep up with her any longer lol. She’s one of the best singers I have ever known and was even lucky enough to see her in concert.

Other cast members & small description:
张峻宁 /zhang jun nin/ as 丁笑 /ding xiao/: Xia Lei’s rival, but will join forces later & defeat skilled dancer(s) from Korea (after reading the description a few times, I think they meant they were challenged to a dancing contest(?) by Korean dancer(s) & won at the end.
关智斌 Kenny Kwan as 阿呸 /a pei/: Xia Lei’s best buddy
TBA as 田会会 /tian hui hui/: Xia Lei’s childhood friend, a student of Xia Lei’s dad, an archer athlete, but had a brain injury damaging her visions in an incident when she tried to stop Xia Lei from participating in a car race. After being disqualified from being on the team training for Olympics, she continued to practice with the blurred vision & master the skill of being able to “listen to the wind” (LOL I don’t know how to translate this one, archery is not my thing). She got back into the Olympics team.
TBA as 申真依 & 申真慧: Korean sisters, younger sister is a famous manager for dancer(s), coming to China to find the next star & discovered both Xia Lei & Ding Xiao. Older sister is another archery athlete, coming to China to amiliarize herself with the stadiums & etc, & finds her best rival to be Tian huihui, but offers support nevertheless. yada yada. btw, their dad is Xia Lei’s dad’s old buddy and rival in archery as well.
p.s.: TBA stands for to be announced. I think one of the female characters is going to be played by 容祖儿 (Joey Yung), from a 张峻宁 interview. ALSO, this is a uber rough translation to just get the gist of the characters & the story.
