Taegoon’s 1st Mini Album Review

::EDIT:: I feel like a total genius because you know how I said Taegoon’s “One Two Step” reminded me of BSG? Well, turns out, they’re under the same company :D/

Yes, we’re finally posting up something we promised to do! Aren’t you guys proud? XD. I had a dream of Taegoon last night (LOL) so I thought it was a sign for me to do this. In my dream, I was in some hotel and ready to leave. Right beside the elevator was the kitchen and the big chef was Taegoon LMAO. I wanted to talk to him but I was getting pushed into a lift so I shouted out “Taegoon~” but I think I said his name wrong so he didn’t hear. Then, I remembered in the songs, his name sounded like “Typhoon” so I then shouted out “Ty-goon” and he actually came to me! But then I was really nervous so all I said was “HWAITING!” and he smiled at me :DDDD. Then the lift doors closed.

Okay, on to the review ^^”!

Audio previews uploaded by shuuukoo @ youtube.

01. Intro – You hear this at the start of the ‘Call Me’ MV. It’s short, but an effective intro, I think.

02. Call Me – I really really really like this song. I can’t help but dance to it whenever I listen to it lol. (Sticking my feet up in the air while lying on a bed is considered dancing, okay?) I think it’s the simplicity of this song which appeals to me. And the chorus is really catchy without being annoying.

03. One Two Step – I WAS REMINDED OF BAE SEUL GI WHEN I HEARD THIS SONG! Do you know her “One by One” song? (Totally random, but I need to go stalk her soompi thread some time…I miss her :( ). It’s not as lighthearted as that song but this is one song I can imagine a girl singing to as her own and not re-singing a guy’s song. Make sense? The beats are stronger (than “One by One”) but it’s generally a boppy one. And get this…it’s a happy song I actually like!!! :DDD/ The build up of this is similar to “Call Me” too, I reckon.

04. My Girl – TEEHEE, the first 10-15 seconds sounds funny. You hear it throughout the whole song but with the music, it doesn’t sound as odd. This song reminds me of something Donghae would dance to to a fan (;____;). Like Usher’s “Nice & Slow”. Sort of. And Taegoon raps in English. I think he’s awesome :).

05. I Understand You (feat. H-Eugene) – Reminds me of western pop from the ’90s. The opening to the song is the best part lol.

06. Hands Up – This song would have some awesome dancing, I believe. Not as catchy as “Call Me” but if Taegoon were to perform this, it would be awesome to watch. This song also reminds me of some western song I heard yonks ago. More English in this song :) I just want to feel this beat, eh?

Not that this served as a really good review since I just went on about pointless stuff lol XD but I do recommend giving his songs a listen. Even if you’re doing something else and just playing it in the background.

It’s nothing terribly original or exciting, but Taegoon is definitely a talent to keep an eye out for!

  1. lol putting your feet up in the air is dancing, I wonder what you’re like in clubs.

  2. Oh no, it was a very good semi-review and your dream cracked me up. I had a dream about DBSK last night but it wasn’t really funny. I was standing behind Jaejoong and some girl in a line at a restaurant and eavesdropping on their convo. It wasn’t particularly interesting though.

Hmm, I didn’t like this as much as I thought I would – but I figure I should give him the benefit of the doubt since he’s new. So I’m gonna give it a few more listens and see if it grows on me. His english rap in ‘My Girl’ is pretty good tho! And I couldn’t help laughing a bit because his voice there sounds really old, like much more mature than I feel it should.

Oh, speaking of him, you should check this out – a short cut of one of his Call Me’ dance practices:

And this is really random but when I was watching a SHINee fancam, I noticed Taegoon being adorably cute at the end. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEiyyqHy34g
The SHINee dorkiness starts at 0:45 (watch Onew behind Gavy NJ) and the Taegoon dorkiness is from 1:01.

LMAO you probably wouldn’t want to imagine me out clubbing while drunk. But…I’ve never tried so even I don’t know what I’m like O.o

Hahaha semi-review…yes, that’s what this is XD. Lmao you should hear all my other dreams. If I were to write a book, I’d sell millions – they’re that interesting XDDD.

Oh really? That’s a shame. Well I listened to the album expecting nothing and having read nothing so my opinions were totally non-biased and unaffected by anything. But yeah, listen to it a few more time :)!

  6. just wanted to share, the fans cheers were loud I was so proud:

  7. ^Thank you for that!
